Teclast TBook 12 Pro: The Best Tablet of Both Worlds
Gone are the days when users were limited to choosing between either a Windows or an Android tablet. Many Chinese manufacturers have launched tablets supporting both operating systems, but Teclast Tbook 12 Pro offers even more. Unlike many other manufacturers that use Remix OS as the Android OS replacement, Telecast decided to stick with stock-like Android, which is a better decision by all means. Tbook 12 Pro features a slim and light weight design, powerful internals and a stunning 12.2-inch display. Windows 10 and Android Lollipop also feel right at home and offer a fluid user experience.

Big tablet and laptop manufacturers are facing fierce competition from Chinese manufacturers, primarily because of the value for money they offer. TBook 12 Pro packs most of the features and specifications the ‘big names’ are offering for more than twice the price. Performance and Battery
Quite a package isn’t it? If you are not into serious gaming, the Quadcore Cherry Trail offers excellent balance between performance and battery life. Not only the SoC supports both Windows and Android, it’s also very energy efficient, thanks to the 14nm process and tri-gate transistors. You should have no problem in smoothly running Windows and other everyday tasks like Office, Browsing the internet, watching videos and so on. Intel Gen8 HD integrated graphics is still good enough to handle many older and less demanding games, but its key advantage is hardware support for 4K videos.
Although the included battery isn’t the best in terms of capacity, it can last for quite some time, thanks to the energy efficient processor. The bigger display certainly takes its toll on the overall battery timing, but there is nothing to worry about in the battery department as it provides reasonable timing, according to current standards.
The tablet looks more like a business-class convertible and resembles Apple’s products in many aspects. The OGS (One Glass Solution) technology used in the display makes it slimmer, lighter and as a result more attractive. The slimness helps the tablet to be categorized as an ultrabook when used with the docking key board (sold separately). Overall, there is nothing really to complain about the build quality and finish of the tablet.
Compared to 10-inchers, TBook 12 Pro provides more space and the 12.2-inch display is an ideal size for watching movies, browsing the internet and doing other daily tasks. It’s big enough, yet not too big to cause problems while carrying. The 1920×1200 resolution resulting in higher pixel density means everything appears sharp, crisp and detailed and saves you from infinitely scrolling through webpages. One of the drawbacks of the display is its aspect ratio i.e. 16:10, which will cause small black horizontal bars to appear while playing standard 16:9 videos. Higher resolution is also a disadvantage when it’s about games as it requires more processing power to run games in native resolution. However, these issues are common with all Tablets featuring the same resolution, and display’s pros certainly outweigh the cons.
The tablet features dual booting Windows 10 and Android Lollipop, which allows enjoying all the desktop apps we can’t live without and thousands of Android apps. Many other manufacturers have shipped their dual-boot tablets with Remix OS, which isn’t something everybody prefers. The stock-like Android is not only more familiar and user friendly, but is also more stable and reliable than third-party solutions. The performance on both platforms is satisfactory and you shouldn’t run into performance issues while doing everyday tasks. However, serious multitasking and gaming aren’t tablet’s key strengths and if that’s your thing, then you may want to consider a Core M based tablet.
A bigger display, sleek design, decent performance and battery life makes TBook 12 Pro an excellent choice for people who want portability without sacrificing on performance. If gaming and heavy multitasking is your thing, you may need to look for another tablet with a faster SoC such as Core M. But for most other routine tasks, including 4K video playback, the tablet offers great value for the money. It’s highly recommended to get the keyboard (sold separately) to get the most value out of the product.
