Blackview is a brand known primarily for its very good and affordable rugged smartphones with waterproof housing and shock-resistant capabilities. This time, however the manufacturer have given us something else: budget-friendly and elegant device, called by Blackview designers “a Fashion Phone”. Take a look at the latest Blackview A7 Pro and see why it stands out among its competitors in its price niche.
Blackview A7 Pro – Review
The 5 inch IPS screen can display 1280 x 720 pixel resolution using a wide 100% NTSC gamut. Mediatek MTK6737 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 2 GB RAM isn’t the fastest possible configuration out there, but it’s absolutely sufficient for using popular apps, web browsing, and even for playing less demanding games. Dual lens camera, fingerprint sensor and GPS enhance the appeal of this inexpensive smartphone, which is powered by Android 7.0. Very nice design resembles premium brands flagships and you can choose from 4 different casing colors.

- Inadequate performance for more demanding tasks such as multitasking
- Subpar camera
Mediatek MT6737 Quad Core CPU is a now a bit obsolete processor with limited computing power comparing to flagship phones, but the UI works seamlessly, as does the web browser, social media apps and movie player. Using it for complex multitasking or playing new games can be more problematic, so if you plan to install demanding apps on A7 Pro, you should pick another phone, possibly with faster Intel processor. 2 GB RAM is a fair amount of operating memory and 16 GB of internal memory can be expanded with a MicroSD card. It’s worth mentioning that memory card doesn’t share a SIM card slot, so you can use this phone with two SIM cards and MicroSD card at the same time.
Display & Design
Considering its price, this is really good looking phone. The rounded corners and thin bezels definitely resemble iPhone (which is not a bad thing!), and the 16:9 screen is perfect for watching movies. According to the manufacturer, the display uses 100% NTSC color palette, which means excellent color reproduction. Indeed, images displayed have great contrast and are saturated, and the Mali T720 graphics chipset provides efficient graphics rendering without frame drop. We also liked the wide choice of four case colors: black, blue, gold and white. You can choose conservative black and use it as an elegant phone for work, or pick blue or gold as a match to woman’s handbag.
Camera and Battery
Constrained by the low price, manufacturer managed to fit in inexpensive but decent camera. The back camera takes pictures with 8.0MP + 0.3 MP dual lens with f / 2.0 focal length. This produces pretty good and vivid images, especially in good lighting conditions, though obviously not as sharp as in high-end phones. The front camera is OK for video calls over Skype and for selfies and that’s it.
2800 mAh battery should last a full day or a little bit longer. It’s definitely not the best result, but it’s worth noting that both MTK6737 CPU and Android 7.0 use energy-saving options, resulting in improved battery performance, especially when you are not using apps too intensively.
Blackview A7 Pro is reasonable quality phone available at an affordable price. This smartphone won’t win performance benchmarks or doesn’t have the best camera, but if you’re looking for nicely designed device that’s good for calls or surfing the web, this is a good opportunity, given its low price point. Its great advantage is also Dual SIM, Dual Standby support and a fast fingerprint reader, which is not often found in similar low-end phones. It’s worth to buy it now, especially that it’s currently only $69.99 on GearBest.
