Chinese phone manufacturers have lately been giving a really tough time to ‘big names’ in the budget-phones segment by squeezing in more and more features with each release. Cheetah 2 is here to make life even more difficult for established brands and offers a whole bunch of features at a very affordable price. A Full HD Display, Octacore processor, 3 gigs of RAM, Android Marshmallow, USB Type-C, Fingerprint scanner, 13MP Cam and Dual-SIM support, what else would you ask for in an under $150 phone?
Apple once made us believe that 3.5-inch is absolutely the maximum screen size a phone should have. Then came the 4.7-inch era and now we are comfortable with 5-inchers. It probably won’t be long before 5.5-inchers become the norm and that’s exactly the size most Chinese manufacturers are focusing at. The Full HD IPS 5.5-inch Display of Cheetah 2 backed by some respectable internals makes videos, browsing, gaming and almost everything else more enjoyable. Add Android Marshmallow to the recipe and the whole experience becomes even more smooth and fluid. The Phablet may not have a QHD display, but honestly, who really needs them except pixel peepers? In practical use, a user probably won’t be able to notice the difference anyway, while higher resolutions also take their toll on battery life.

Cheetah 2 is a very balanced package and offers a great set of features at an affordable price. It features a design that we know has worked very well in the past and packs enough power for a smooth user experience. The cameras aren’t the best around, but they get the job done in right lighting conditions. Although most Chinese phone manufacturers use Samsung or SONY Camera sensors, software optimizations have always been the key area where they need to do a lot of work. If you are looking for a capable phone in a $150 budget, Cheetah 2 is an excellent option and there are very few phones that offer the same level of value.
